Copyright And License
Copyright
- Authors retain the copyright of their published work in STEPX (Sustainable Technology, Energy, and Policy Exchange).
- Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the article in any form or medium, while maintaining full ownership of their intellectual property.
- Authors are free to deposit the published version of their work in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other platforms, provided proper citation and link to the official journal version are included.
License
- All articles in STEPX are published under the terms of a Creative Commons license.
- By default, the journal adopts the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) License, which allows others to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially
- The only requirement is that proper credit must be given to the original author(s), a link to the license must be provided, and any changes must be indicated.
Author Rights
- Authors are permitted and encouraged to share their work widely (e.g., on institutional repositories, research networks, or personal websites) both before and after publication, which can lead to productive exchanges and greater visibility of published work.
- Reuse of the work is allowed under the terms of the CC BY license, ensuring that authors’ research reaches the widest possible audience.
Third-Party Material
- Authors must ensure that any third-party content (figures, tables, images, datasets) included in their manuscripts has the appropriate permissions for reuse under the CC BY license.
